This was the bizarre scene encountered by police officers after they pulled over a car - a six-foot alligator nestled by the rear window. William Johnson had been stopped for erratic driving and turned out to be a suspect wanted over a burglary. But officers got even more than they bargained for when they spotted his reptilian passenger as they approached the car in the night-time stop. An image from a video from the police car shows them pointing their torches into the back of the car as they cannot quite believe what they see. The animal, which was travelling in the back seat, had moved up to the area behind the headrests by the sedan's rear window. The pictures were taken by one of the officers.
