The Highest Popping Toaster in the World
Technology is so often a disappointment. Computers crash, phones don't work and - most frustrating of all - toasters don't pop the toast up when they're done in that cool way they do in movies. Instead, the thing just limply flollops up, leaving you to electrocute yourself as you try to dig bits of crumpet out of the toaster's innards with a knife.
But not if you're Freddie Yauner.
Highest_popping_toaster_lowres_04Yauner, a student at the Royal College of Art, claims to have broken the Guinness World Record for getting the highest pop ever achieved by a toaster. His pimped-out device - a sleak beast powered by high-pressure CO2 and a mechanical ram, which he has dubbed 'The Moaster' - managed to propel the toast an impressive, record-setting 2m 60cm into the air in an indoor test. Given that this height was somewhat limited by the fact that there was a ceiling, which the toast hit, Yauner is confident that the Moaster can surpass this in an outdoor test which, reports suggest, he is hoping to run today. 'Everyone loves it when a toaster has a good pop to it, so I thought this was the logical next step, to create a new space in the market," Freddy said rather optimistically...
