VIRAL VIDEO OF THE DAY PART 2 - SEE THIS? THAT'S ME THAT IS...
The beautiful game was given a touch of the circus when the finest freestyle footballers displayed their ball skills at the world championships in Brazil. Boasting tricks that would make Cristiano Ronaldo envious, the 44 contestants - known as ballers - went head to head in front of thousands of fans at the Complexo Exportivo do Pacaembu. Some managed to balance a football on their head while spinning round the floor and others juggled the ball from foot to foot in a variety of contorted positions. The winner, 24-year-old Arnaud Garnier of France, spun a ball on a Biro he was holding between his teeth. Yosuke Yokota from Japan came second and Britain's John Whetton, 19, reached the last 16. Judges at the Red Bull Street Style 2008 World Finals included international footballers such as Edgar Davids of the Netherlands and Bebeto, a World Cup-winner with Brazil in 1994. Their task was to judge the ballers based on the criteria of ball control, technique, and style in combination with the music. "Some of the stuff the guys showed was just unbelievable," said Davids. The next world championship is scheduled for 2010 in South Africa, which hosts the World Cup in the same year.
