adele vogue cover worst selling issue ever...interesting piece from telegraph has more...
Adele’s Vogue cover was a worst seller
British singer Adele's 'Vogue' cover was one of the publication's worst sellers - and will we see the Duchess of Cambridge on the cover soon?
Despite Adele's current worldwide fame and newly-appointed national treasure status, it appears she still doesn't have the power to shift magazines.
Speaking in London last night, British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman revealed that the October 2011 issue the singer appeared on was actually one of the worst selling. "Music stars haven't sold at all well," Vogue.co.uk report Shulman as saying.
"Adele is the most popular woman in the world, but one of the worst sellers we've ever had. I find there has to be a relationship with the person on the cover that goes beyond how they look. Our most successful cover was the millennium issue - which didn't have anyone on it, but acted like a mirror so you could see your own reflection!"
Shulman also confirmed that the magazine has approached the Duchess of Cambridge to be a cover star, but she is yet to take them up their offer. Prince William's mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, appeared on four of the publication's covers before her death in 1997 - three of which were shot by her favourite photographer Patrick Demarchelier, and the other by Lord Snowdon.
We'll have to wait and see if Kate follows in her footsteps, but if she does, we're pretty sure there won't be any problems with selling that issue.
