Footage has emerged of an Asian black bear allegedly doing 'kung fu' style moves with a stick. The footage, which was uploaded to YouTube a few days ago, shows the bear first playing with the 5ft stick with a paw. The bear then appears to start twirling the stick rapidly around its head using 'kung fu' style moves. At one point the bear - allegedly named Claude - even throws the stick mid-twirl into the air and catches it. The three-minute clip of the bear was filmed by Canadian YouTube user alexbuzzkentaroguy at the Asa Zoo in Hiroshima, Japan. He says he then uploaded the clip to YouTube. Animal behaviour expert Professor Marc Bekoff from the University of Colorado said the footage appears genuine. He said: "This is an amazing example of animal object control. This goes beyond normal animal usage of complex tools but then again you can train seals to balance balls on their noses and train elephants to paint with their trunks, so why not this. "I would guess this is the result of extreme training and would find it hard to believe the animal taught itself this spontaneously." Professor Bekoff added that the bear's 'Kung Fu' moves were not natural and the bear must have been in a situation of extreme boredom. The Asa Zoo has not yet confirmed if the footage is genuine.

A four-year-old boy has narrowly escaped injury after falling from an escalator after climbing up the side of it. He was caught by a local shopkeeper, who ran to catch him.
The incident happened at a shopping centre in Istanbul.Quick-thinking shopkeeper Ali Apari said he saw the boy, who was visiting the centre with his father, playing near the escalator.

The Darren Swanton Memorial Cork City RallySprint
Organised and promoted by Cork Motor Club Ltd., in association with Cork City Council and the Bishopstown and District Lions Club, the event aims to raise funds for the Marymount Hospice. Darren Swanton was a 32 year old member of the Cork Motor Club who died of cancer in Marymount in 2009. The event will be run over a 5.2 Km loop within the grounds of the Cork City Amenity site on a mixed tarmac and gravel surface, which will provide drivers with a stern challenge, and spectators with a safe environment to experience the speed and thrills from what should prove to be a very challenging track. It will be the first public event on the site which Cork city officials are transforming into a massive amenity park. Most of the vast site has been landscaped as part of Cork City Council plans to transform it into a public park which will eventually feature playing pitches, an all-weather area to host concerts, wildlife walks and an exercise area dubbed "cardiac hill".
Tickets for the event are on sale at the following locations:
· The Commons Inn, Mallow Road, Blackpool.
· R&R Jerry Murphy Tyre Services, Myler Industrial Estate, Ballincollig.
· Coleman's Car Care, Wilton Shopping Centre.
· Bull McCabes Bar & Restaurant, Airport Road
Tickets are €10 per individual, or €25 for a family ticket.

Bee for Battens is the Irish campaign for raising awareness & supporting those affected by Battens Disease, a genetic condition of the nervous system that leads to children becoming totally disabled. Battens disease is not preventable and to date has always been fatal. This is why we need to raise money now so that these children can take part in the trails based at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in America, this is their only hope for survival. Bee For Battens is operated by The Saoirse Foundation, a Non-Profit Volunteer Based Charitable Organisation for Battens Disease.
The Saoirse Foundation was formed to provide parents, families and all those affected by Battens Disease in Ireland with a home based support and networking organisation, and as importantly, a credible source of information. The founding families are Tony & Mary Heffernan, whose 2 children have Battens, and Alan & Shauna Bates whose daughter Rhiannon was diagnosed with the disease. Our Support & Research activities completely rely on fund-raising and donations from the public and private business sectors. By raising awareness & working together we can all do our bit to help those affected by this rare neuro-degenerative & to date, fatal condition, affecting babies, young children & juveniles on the Island of Ireland. We are developing the sport from scratch. By accident we found out that with the right water repellent equipment you can run across bodies of water, just like a stone skimming the surface. Liquid mountaineering is performed by professionals under professional supervision. Accordingly I must insist that attempting to do so is dangerous.

The winner is decided by the reaction of the crowd and the votes of two judges on the battle pictures of the artists.

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men, at least that’s what Mohommed Ali reckoned. He was a big man, and didn’t seem to be held back by impossiblity. Dan Martin is another big man who doesn’t let im get in the way of his possible. Dan’s planning a global triathlon! Even trying to think up the craziest expedition I could imagine I never would have dared dream of something like this; swim the Atlantic, bike across Siberia in winter, then run across North America! Quite simply its nuts and maybe not possible. But, Dan is going to give it a bash all the same. He’ll be spending four months at sea then hopping on his bike to the bearing straits then running to New York in time for the City Marathon. Like I said nuts, and maybe impossible. We’ll be following Dan’s historic adventure closely. I really hope he can redefine a global Triathlon as possible.

A "bored" Florida state senator has been caught looking at a photo of bikini-clad women on his laptop while on the state senate floor. To make matters worse for Republican Mike Bennett, he was captured on camera looking at the picture just as another senator was arguing that the law being debated was "disrespectful towards women".
Bennett was filmed by a reporter for the Florida political website Sunshine State News during the debate last Thursday. Only this week was it noticed what Bennett was up to.
The voice of another state senator, Democrat Dan Gelber, can be heard in the background debating a bill which would see women considering an abortion being forced to view the fetus on an ultrasound. "I'm against this bill," Gelber argued, "because it disrespects too many women in the state of Florida."

A mum who was left bedbound by her 20kg boobs for six months has had an operation to have them drastically reduced. Julia Manihuari had an extreme case of Bilateral Gynecomastia, a condition where the mammary glands swells up uncontrollably.
During a gruelling six hour operation surgeons removed 17kg of weight from her chest, reducing her boobs to a 34B. Mother-of-four Julia and her husband live in a remote part of the Peruvian jungle, and had to travel by boat, private plane and ambulance for three days to have the operation at the Hospital Loayza Archbishop in Lima. After the operation, Julia said, "I feel incredible, I do not know the last time I felt free."
Star Wars fan Luke Kaye would really love to live on Tatooine. After all, with 14 tattoos covering his body, he’d fit right in. Mr Kaye, 42, got his first ink of Yoda five years ago – and hasn’t looked back since. ‘I will not stop until I am happy – I am nowhere near finished yet,’ said the 42-year-old from Swindon. 'I want to add more characters to form a sleeve on my arm and move on to getting full-size spaceships down my sides.’ Girlfriend Debbie Mawer, 27, is not a fan of the art but is very understanding, he added.
