NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A FLASH MOB...EVEN IF THE FLASH MOB ARE ALL PAID UP PROFESSIONAL DANCERS SUCKING ON THE CORPORATE TEAT

Black Eyed Peas perform a special live version of I Gotta Feeling for Oprah while a flash mob of synchronized dancers groove on Michigan Avenue downtown Chicago, IL USA. The performance was at Oprah's 24th Season Kickoff Party on September 8, 2009.

Does this count as a flash mob? Are they not supposed to be relatively spontaneous events (i.e not having a stage prepared in advance) involving members of the public? They all look like paid professional dancers to me. Oprah and the black eyed peas? I'd say it was choreographed to within an inch of its life. The black eyed peas haven't done anything that isn't mass market driven since bridging the gap. Don't know why this annoys me the way it does. I just hate it when folk jump on trends and stuff it down your throat. They kind of kill fun ideas. There will be sponsored flash mobs next giving out free powerade to those who attend.
