A builder survived being buried alive by inhaling air trapped in his helmet. Wang Jianxin slowed his breathing by meditation after a mound of earth fell on him. Rescuers dug out the 52-year-old after 20 minutes and were amazed to find him alive. Mr Wang, who is a Buddhist, said: 'I knew it [the air] would not last, so I made myself relax and concentrated on slowing my breathing.' Doctors in Ningbo city, China, said Mr Wang would otherwise have been dead in five minutes.
